About the Author
Fr John Behr is Dean and Professor of Patristics at St Vladimir s Orthodox Theological Seminary where he teaches courses in patristics, dogmatics, and scriptural exegesis. He is also a Distinguished Lecturer at Fordham University. After completing a degree in Philosophy in London in 1987, he spent a year studying in Greece. He holds an M.Phil. in Eastern Christian Studies and a D.Phil. in Theology, both from Oxford University; and an M.Th. from St Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary. He is the editor of the Popular Patristics Series at SVS Press and has published a number of books in the areas of his particular interest: the early church, especially the development of theological reflection, asceticism, and anthropology.
